Music Marketing Blog Post

 Our research consisted of gaining information from other artists' marketing strategies, social media tactics and publicity. We researched big time music companies like Universal and Sony, and then researched their history and background information. Then, two of us in the group did the research charts and shared our information with the rest of the group so we could all obtain information regarding the company and artists. We also researched our band and found their information so we could maybe draw some inspiration.  Our project started off with stricken as 2 of our group members fell ill but as of now, we’re flowing and made adjustments due to that discrepancie.

Our brainstorming process felt pleasant. When we first heard our song “Nigh Running” by Cage the Elephant, we knew we had to pick this song right when we heard the first 30 seconds. We thought about the music video Idea for around 20-30 minutes; I suggested that the song gave me a sense of party life, and then I had the idea of doing a car chase with cops. At first it was absurd, but me and my group merged all these ideas together. We came up with a story surrounding the partylife, chase, and cops. Our idea was that we would have 3 of us drinking and partying and then a cop arrives and then joins us to start partying as well. The instrumental and the lyrics of the song suggested a story like this so we were eager to get started. 

From this, our main objective was the storyboard and the website. With the website, two of us created a well-designed logo with the band name “Eddie and the Technicians”, we wanted a miami vice type design, and we accomplished that effectively. The storyboard was the most crucial part of the project, we had the idea to start the story where it finishes so it can feel like a flashback. We haven’t finished the storyboard, but as of now, we are nearly at the finish line. Our next step is to film the music video and complete our presentation. We are filming on January 29th, and then editing over the weekend. We have started our presentation and still have a long way to go but we should get it done in a successful manner.
